As you might have guessed from its name, The ‘Batman 66’ Premium pinball takes as its theme the TV series that started it all.
The game takes players on a feature packed adventure through the colourful and somewhat camp world of the Dynamic Duo - surely TV’s first example of a fully fledged bromance! It features footage from the iconic TV series which is cleverly blended with new animations and exciting display effects, all of which are integrated into the game play.
Toy fans will love this table, which includes a ‘dynamic rotating action turntable Mini Playfield’ that presents the player with numerous alternating shots and targets. Also featured is an interactive ‘Villain Vision TV set’, a Batcave with spinning Batmobile target, an illuminated Batphone, a Batcomputer and a perhaps most remarkably of all, a Bat Analyser! (Should be standard issue in every household)
Dominating the playfield is a modern version of one of the most popular toys in the history of modern pinball - the interactive crane from The Dark Knight. Fast moving play is assisted by two crossing steel ramps with wireform returns and audio accompaniment is punctuated by calls from Adam West and Burt Ward, who played the iconic duo in the 60’s series. Jensen Audio 2-Way speakers and a 3 channel amp with separate treble and bass controls ensure that there’s plenty of ‘Oooomph’ when you need it!
As one of the world’s most respected manufacturers Stern has provided some interesting extras with this machine. Production is limited to just 80 machines, each of which comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Gary Stern himself, an autographed play field featuring designer George Gomez and Lyman Sheats’s signature under the hard coat and a Topps Batman trading card presented in a special holder. All the tables have a unique ID number plate.
All in all it’s a terrifically entertaining package just brimming with toys, features and interesting details. Never before has the camp world of 1960’s TV been so fabulously evoked!
