The Retro Conversion is an excellent compromise between the great accomplishments of modern technology and the fond nostalgia of a bygone era. The powerful computer from the Waldersmith Space Trooper, along with its many retro games, is housed in a vintage cabinet – that of an original late 70’s or early 80’s vintage arcade game.
The cabinet has been fully restored keeping its originality, the wood effect has been repaired and expertly painted in where necessary. We chrome the legs and present the cabinet in a fully restored grade A condition. The workings are housed behind a brand new toughened glass and we recreate the instructions and blackened surround.
A simple joystick and fire button combination allows you to jump straight in and get started. All games are rendered in perfect detail through a 19” LCD screen, protected by toughened glass. Produced by Waldersmith, this elegant fusion of old and new is compact, stylish and brilliant for a family environment and all casual gamers, whatever their age.
We at the Games Room Company have always had a great appreciation for video games, ever since the first commercial video game (Computer Space) was released back in 1971. We were one of the first companies to bring over TAITO’s Space Invaders to the UK, quickly going on to supply pubs all over the country. Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, was a particularly avid fan of Atari’s Pong, describing it as being “quite as fun as real tennis, and not nearly as exhausting”. We have proudly continued his fondness for retro video games, and much of our inventory includes games we’ve manufactured ourselves.
