Description

From Bally's renowned designer Dennis Nordman comes this madcap 1991 table, with extremely vibrant ‘comic book’ inspired artwork and a theme that we’re still trying to work out! The main character is a DJ but the table has a kind of goofy sci fi vibe and all we know is that the whole package adds up to a lot of fun.

Over the years we’ve been fortunate enough to have gathered together a select few engineers whose enthusiasm for pinball machines and vast experience ensures that The Games Room Company’s restorations are quite simply the best in the world. Our technicians love breathing new life into old circuitry and want to see as many of these classic pinballs preserved for future generations as possible.

Instead of the perfunctory checklists which pass for an inspection at other dealers we have an unflinching determination to get to grips with the detail. This usually begins with a thorough strip down of the machine and a forensic examination of the internal workings. The engineers will be aware of the particular quirks and foibles of any given table and instead of just replacing failed parts they’ll always go the extra mile, swapping out components which are likely to fail in the near future.

This particular example has had the cabinet artwork completely renewed and the lighting upgraded to super bright LED’s as part of the extensive restoration process. Our aim is to ensure that our refurbished pinballs play just as well as the day they left the factory but when you take into account the cosmetic upgrades it can truthfully be claimed that a table refurbished to this standard is actually superior to the original machine.

This is one game that really stands out from other pins of the same era and is now considered a highly collectable piece. It’s thought to be the first pinball to incorporate selectable music and with a sound track that includes The Who and Hendrix what’s not to like? Captain B.Zarr, host and DJ, guides players through the game and during 'request time' he prompts players to make their selections by using the flipper buttons.

Party Zone simply oozes personality, and with so many fun shots, skill shots and playfield toys it’s a great entertainer for all ages. The audio has the feel and sound of a radio broadcast, which fits perfectly with DJ character, but it’s the artwork that really marks this machine out as something a bit different. Created by Bally’s Greg Freres, it’s been described by fans of the table as colouful, wacky, and totally cool!  The lightshow is equally spectacular, especially when you score ‘The Big Bang’

Once you get past the eye candy there’s plenty of addictive and rewarding play to be had, and luckily this is one game that’s quick to learn. The main toy is a moving and talking head which follows your ball around the playfield, throwing in a burst of commentary every now and then. Other notable toys include a dancing crash test dummy and a mumbling robotic head, and there' aren't too many tables that can make that claim! There are plenty of ramps and targets, and if the groovy virtual DJ doesn’t float your boat then perhaps the other animated characters will get your party started. One thing’s for sure though -  after playing Party Zone for a few minutes you’ll be convinced that the designer had been smoking rather special when he conceived it!

When it's time to party, there's no better place to do it than Bally's Party Zone.

The Games Room Company is one of the oldest pinball dealers in the country. Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, played his first pinball game in 1960, and described it without irony as being “flipping excellent”. We’ve been selling pinball machines since 1962, so know a thing or two about our products! Our showroom will gladly assist you on any questions you may have before or after you purchase any Games Room Company equipment.
