Pac man Arcade Game 1980 Original

The most legendary character in gaming is immortalised in his own iconic arcade machine, released in 1980. Sporting its classic yellow colouring, the original Pac Man is the most famous arcade machine of all time, and the very definition of ‘80s pop culture.

The game play consists of guiding the titular Pac Man around a maze, eating ‘pac-dots’ – pellets scattered across the arena. Pac Man is pursued by four ghosts, Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, each with their own distinct personalities and habits, who will attempt to stop Pac Man. ‘Power Pellets’ hidden across the maze will turn the ghosts yellow, allowing Pac Man to eat them and temporarily remove them as an obstacle.

Shortly after its release in 1980, Pac Man became spectacularly successful, spawning numerous spinoffs, sequels and unauthorised clones. The success of the franchise was such that it quickly inspired an animated television series and even a hit single.

Our engineers at the Games Room Company have restored this classic game to perfect functional and aesthetic condition. Often hailed as a landmark in gaming history, the Upright Pac Man machine is sought after all over the world, and is a truly exceptional find.

We at the Games Room Company have always had a great appreciation for video games, ever since the first commercial video game (Computer Space) was released back in 1971. We were one of the first companies to bring over TAITO’s Space Invaders to the UK, quickly going on to supply pubs all over the country. Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, was a particularly avid fan of Atari’s Pong, describing it as being “quite as fun as real tennis, and not nearly as exhausting”. We have proudly continued his fondness for retro video games, and much of our inventory includes games we’ve manufactured ourselves.
