Chief One-Armed Bandit by Jennings

This beautifully restored 'Chief' one armed bandit from the late 1940's was built by the now-defunct Jennings & Company, one of the world's best known manufacturers of slot machines.  It's a three reel, escalator bell machine and features back lit red panels, which lend it a slightly oriental feel and gave rise to the name of 'Chinese Front'.

Fully functioning and vending on quarters, which we can supply if required, the Chief is mounted on a magnificent stained oak stand and has tremendous presence. It still has the original award card and reel strips, and although the chrome has very minor pitting in places this really just serves to enhance the character of the piece with the patina of age.

With classic machines like this we feel that it's important to carry out a sympathetic restoration rather than returning them to an 'as new' state and losing the character in the process. Over the last few months we've noticed that demand has soared for these classic one armed bandits, and as a result we don't expect this rare example to be around for very long.

Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, was far from an avid gambler, but he was extremely knowledgeable about the industry. He specialised in ‘one armed bandits’, and they were an essential part of the business that eventually became the Games Room Company. After servicing slot machines and jukeboxes on American airbases after the war, the resultant friendships Reginald made in the US armed forces allowed him to begin shipping them to the UK, and begin trading as the Games Room Company.

We’ve been selling games tables since 1962, so we know a thing or two about our products! Our showroom will gladly assist you on any questions you may have before or after you purchase any Games Room Company equipment.
