Genco Basketball Machine

description

A vintage machine hailing from the 1950s, the Genco Basketball Arcade houses a miniature basketball court home to two mannequin players. When the game begins, a central loading tube feeds out the balls to the players, who are controlled by joysticks on the Genco’s outer casing. A trigger on the joysticks will make the players fire the balls towards the nets, which are colour coded according to team alignment.

There are six baskets in all; four low and two high, with varying scores being awarded accordingly. A buzzer signals when the upper nets become targets, during which time they award ten points for every basket scored. The lower baskets, however, give any amount between two and six points at any one time, as indicated by the backlights behind them. A bell rings for every shot in these latter nets.

Built in 1954, the Genco Basketball Arcade Machine is a spectacularly rare find, and has been given extensive attention by our Games Room Company engineers. It has been restored to the highest possible standard, and works at factory condition considering its age of just under 60 years.

While the white balls might not seem typical of the game we know today, it wasn’t actually until the late 1950s (several years after the machine was produced) that the classic orange ball came into widespread use, thus the Genco game is in fact a more accurate representation of the contemporary game than it might first appear.

A relatively simple but lovingly designed game, the Genco Basketball arcade machine provides a fun bit of entertainment and distraction for kids and adults alike.
