Time Crisis Arcade Machine

description

Namco's Time Crisis has been heralded as one of the very best pistol shooting games of all time, not least because it puts the player through a raw, heart-thumping thrill ride as he shoots against the clock in an effort to complete his mission. It has been earmarked as a future '90s classic but is already a highly collectable appreciating asset.

It was first released in 1996 and proved such a hit in the arcades that several other models were created in the following years, including multi-player versions.

There are three stages overall, each consisting of separate areas and battles, and the game takes the form of a three dimensional first person shooter with the player holding a lightweight gun which he uses to fire at on-screen enemies. It’s perhaps best known for its ‘cover’ system, in which players can duck behind objects to avoid enemy fire whilst re-loading.

This is achieved by depressing the floor mounted foot pedal, and although it provides a valuable breathing space you can’t afford to hang about as the countdown timer will punish you with a non-negotiable ‘Game Over’ if you don’t clear all your enemies within a specific area in the allotted time. We must assume that this is what prompted the name ‘Time Crisis’! The trick is to hide only when necessary, and then come out with guns blazing, Butch and Sundance style!

Whilst the graphics may look a little clunky alongside modern day machines, this does nothing to detract from what is a fast moving and adrenaline packed experience as you battle to rescue the President's daughter from her terrorist kidnappers.

Namco themselves were one of the front runners during the golden age of arcade games and produced such classics as Ridge Racer, Galaxian, Ace Combat, Tekken, not to mention the best selling arcade game in history, Pac-Man. This Time Crisis 1 has been fully refurbished by our technicians and of course comes with our standard one year parts and labour guarantee.

We at the Games Room Company have always had a great appreciation for video games, ever since the first commercial video game (Computer Space) was released back in 1971. We were one of the first companies to bring over TAITO’s Space Invaders to the UK, quickly going on to supply pubs all over the country. Our founder, Reginald Waldersmith, was a particularly avid fan of Atari’s Pong, describing it as being “quite as fun as real tennis, and not nearly as exhausting”. We have proudly continued his fondness for retro video games, and much of our inventory includes games we’ve manufactured ourselves.
