Whether you're after a bit of family fun, an original coin operated competition model, or a football table so luxurious that it becomes the centre piece of your home, The Games Room Company has an extensive range suited to every budget, level and location.
Also known as foosball or baby foot, the game of table football as we know it today was first invented and patented in 1923 by an Englishman called Harold S. Thornton. He was an avid Spurs supporter and, after watching his team play a match, he decided that a similar diversion was needed to replicate the excitement of the beautiful game at home. Inspiration finally came to Harold in the form of a box of matches. By laying the matches horizontally across the box, the basis of the game as we know it today was born.
Table football is most often played for fun in bars, clubs, workplaces, schools and at home, with very few rules. However, professional organised competitions do exist, and the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF), established in 2002, regulates International events including the yearly World Championships and the World Cup held to coincide with the FIFA World Cup every four years. In 2006, Austria, Germany and Belgium took the Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively. As well as regulating international competitions, the ITSF also aims to establish the game with the International Olympic Committee as an officially recognised Olympic sport.
From competition standard to family fun, beautifully reconditioned originals to sturdy designs suitable for everyday home use, whatever your level, whatever your requirements, you can be sure to find the right football table at The Games Room Company.
